Holon Sport Center
In collaboration with architect Hitoshi Abe
Since ancient times, the main function of the sport facility typology has been to allow the maximum number of people to witness the events they contain, giving them the characteristic of centripetal closure. Additionally, a high priority for building performance at large- scale events is "how to move people safely and according to planned routs", and this aspect has gained even more importance today. However, multitudes of everyday events that occur in modern public spaces are also important. In order to revitalize these small events, the issue is "how to make the institution more open and free" in other words, the sport facility now has an institutional image completely opposite to its original character, the aim was to propose an open place without losing any functionality.
